TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. CHANGES TO TERMS
We reserve the right to update or modify these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.
2. ORDER AND PAYMENT POLICY
To secure your booking:
-
Occasion Cakes: A 50% non-refundable booking fee is required. The remaining balance is due one day before collection.
-
Cupcakes & Treat Boxes: Full payment is required at the time of booking.
-
Wedding Cakes: A non-refundable booking fee of £100 is required to secure your date. The remaining balance is due six weeks before the wedding.
All booking fees and upfront payments are non-refundable. The booking fee paid to secure your date is non-refundable and non-transferable. This fee covers admin time, initial planning, and holds your date in our diary — meaning we turn away other potential bookings for that day. In the event of cancellation, the booking fee also helps cover the loss of income if we are unable to secure another order for the same date.
Invoices include a secure link for bank transfer payment. Please pay within 24 hours of receipt; your date is only confirmed once payment has cleared.
Failure to pay the final balance by the due date may result in cancellation of your order without refund.
3. ORDER DETAILS & CHANGES
Your booking invoice outlines your confirmed cake details. If something is missing or incorrect, notify us immediately. Any additions will require a revised quote.
To make changes to your order:
-
A minimum of 4 weeks’ notice is required.
-
Changes may be subject to availability.
-
A maximum reduction of 10% of the original order value is allowed.
By making payment, you agree to the details on your invoice and to these terms.
4. COLLECTIONS
All occasion cakes must be collected from our home premises. Most collections take place the day before or day of the event. Cake care information is provided — we are not responsible for any damage once the cake has left our premises. Cakes are boxed and secured on cake boards.
5. DELIVERY
Delivery is available for tiered occasion cakes and wedding cakes, subject to availability and for a fee based on distance.
-
Accurate venue addresses must be provided.
-
If you authorise us to leave the cake with a third party or in a specific location, we are not responsible for its condition after delivery.
-
We will do our best to meet agreed delivery times, but cannot be held liable for delays due to traffic or unforeseen events.
6. PRICING
We reserve the right to change our pricing at any time.
7. CAKE CARE
Buttercream cakes are sensitive to heat. Follow all provided care instructions and avoid placing your cake in hot environments, direct sunlight, or near heat sources.
8. CANCELLATION POLICY
If you need to cancel your order, please notify us in writing as soon as possible.
-
Booking fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. The booking fee paid to secure your date covers admin time, initial planning, and holds your date in our diary — meaning we turn away other potential bookings for that day. In the event of cancellation, the booking fee also helps cover the loss of income if we are unable to secure another order for the same date.
-
If cancellation occurs within 6 weeks of your wedding date, the full balance including the booking fee will be due.
-
Any expenses incurred beyond the booking fee may be invoiced.
-
If no custom ingredients or supplies have been purchased, their cost will be deducted from your final balance if already paid.
-
Delivery fees will be refunded unless used to offset any outstanding payments.
We strongly recommend taking out wedding insurance to cover cancellations or unforeseen events.
9. POSTPONEMENTS
Postponements are treated as cancellations. We may be able to rebook for a new date, subject to availability and a new contract.
10. ALLERGENS
We do not offer allergen-free cakes. Our products are made in a kitchen that handles nuts, dairy, gluten, eggs, and other allergens. Cross-contamination cannot be ruled out.
Customers are responsible for confirming that recipients have no allergies before ordering.
11. NON-EDIBLE ITEMS
Some cakes contain non-edible supports or decorations (e.g., dowels, fresh flowers, wires). These will be listed on the cake box. You are responsible for removing these before serving.
12. COLOURS & DESIGN
We will do our best to match your colour scheme, but exact colour matches cannot be guaranteed due to variations in ingredients and materials.
Designs are based on your invoice and discussions. Please ensure all details are accurate. While we aim to fulfil specific requests, food materials have limitations, and exact likenesses may not be possible.
13. FRESH FLOWER POLICY
If fresh flowers are supplied by your florist, they are responsible for their condition and safety. Cakes Made Pretty accepts no liability for any issues caused by flowers added after delivery or setup.
14. HIRING OF EQUIPMENT
A £75 refundable deposit is required for cake stand or equipment hire, unless otherwise agreed. This is in addition to the hire fee.
-
Deposit duration and return date will be confirmed during booking.
-
The deposit is refunded in full if items are returned in their original condition and on time.
-
Damaged, lost, or late items will result in loss of deposit. Cleaning fees of £5 per item may also apply.
-
You assume responsibility for all hired equipment once it has been delivered or collected.
15. PHOTOGRAPHY
Photographs of your cake may be taken for social media and marketing. These images remain the property of Cakes Made Pretty.
If you share photos of your event, we will always seek your and your photographer’s permission before reposting.
16. COMPLAINTS
If you are unhappy with your cake, please return the affected tier(s) within 48 hours for inspection.
If a refund is deemed appropriate, it will be limited to the value of the affected tier(s). Our total liability is limited to the cost of the cake, and we are not liable for any further consequential losses.
